Variety Show language

Postby alkrasnov18 » April 11th, 2009 9:04 pm

Hi, guys.
I'm sorry if there's already a post about it, but I couldn't find it. If there is, please give me a link to it, if it's not too much of a bother.
Anyway, my problem is:
I am a fansubber for different variety shows, and usually I understand what they say, because I saw a lot of these shows in the past, but from time to time there are words and phrases that I have no idea what they mean, and neither dictionary not internet help much with it.
So I wanted to ask you, do you know of any good books/sites/other resources which teach or at least show and explain all this extremely colloquial speech?
Thank you very much,

Sash

What exactly are you having trouble with? Do you know much Osaka-ben and have you consulted any Osaka-ben dictionaries?

Naturally there's Osaka-ben, but not all is Osaka-ben. There are also different abbreviations or words like "gachi" and "gachinko" or acronyms like "OV" (which I still haven't figured out) or something like that.
Maybe like a book/resource about Japanese slang or colloquial phrases?
Thanks

Well, a quick google search found me this website for Japanese slang. Gachi and gachinko were both listed. I also found gachinko on the wikipedia Japanese language site.

Here is a website for KY語:

However, I still couldn't find OV on the KYgo website. Is there any chance it means "original video"? I found an article on the Japanese wikipedia that indicates it could mean that.
