Many uses of tokoro

Postby jampanman » March 17th, 2009 12:36 am

Hi all,

I am looking for some help on the uses of 'ところ' when referring to a point in time. I understand how the non-past, progressive and past tense of a verb precedes ところ to define a different point in time but my question relates to the use with negative verbs and adjectives.

I have heard this expression わからないところ when referring to watching a film in a foreign language. Am a right it thinking this means a part of the film which is not understood. But if the conversation took place after watching would this not need to be わからなかったところ and does this mean just not understood?

And 楽しいところ when my students were reflecting on the previous school year. How do adjectives work with ところ?

Thanks ahead,

James
