I'm new to JPod101 but so far have really enjoyed the podcast. It's inspired me to get back into japanese. I studied and lived in Japan for a year, but my sights for my japanese are much higher than my ability is now. It looks like jpod101 and things like this forum could really help! so... yoroshiku onegaishimasu!
Anyway, on to my question. A challenge for you guys. On the side of a bottle this text was written and I don't really know how to parse it. Any help (日本人さんよろしくね!) is appreciated!
ねじの部分を叩くか温めると楽にとれる。
neji - screw
bubun - part
tataku - to strike/hit?
atatameru - to warm/heat
raku ni toreru - to easily access/open.
So this was written on the screw top of a bottle. How would you translate this into english? Does this mean "when you hit the screw part (the top of the bottle) OR warm it, it will open easily"?? the 叩くか part is what is most confusing. What grammar is this!??
I look forward to more communication and learning with you all!
