Online payment issues

Postby blackspirit » February 21st, 2009 12:30 am

Hi,

Just subscribed for a basic subscription, and found some issues with the credit card payment area.

The CVV2 (?) link is broken, it 404's.

Somehow I was redirected it use paypal, even though I had selected credit card. I flicked between the two using the radio buttons, some sort of javascript problem I guess.

After payment, the confirmation page also 404ed. THe url was:

The payment seemed to go through ok.

Might I also suggest you make the phone-number field optional? I'm hesitant in giving out my phone number anywhere.

ども ありがとう

Hello Michael-さん、

Sorry you had trouble with the order process, and thank you for letting us know. We fixed the issues you mentioned and made the process a bit more friendly.

We're also considering your suggestion about the phone number field.

All the Best,

Charles

I can't speak for JPod, but I've worked in online payment industries, and my experience is that for first-time customers on a site, extra credit card authorization steps need to be taken in order to prevent fraud. This is not dictated so much by the site as the back-end credit-card processor (the site is more like a relay for that transaction). CVV2 helps with this a lot, but it's not an industry-wide standard yet, so other steps often have to be taken.

But this is all speculation here. JPod will either work something out with the processor, or the processor will say 'no'. We'll see. :)

As fate has it, I'm coding a payment area for a website at the moment, and using CVV for verifcation.

I agree with some extra steps, although I haven't heard of using a phone number as verification. :D

Thanks for the fixes cwabbott-san, very prompt :)
