Am I the only person who doesn't really like this textbook? I had never heard of it before needing to use it here in Japan for a course.

I am using the same text and I hate it but have to use it at the class.
I think it is boring, a lot of new words are not in my interest. Moreover concerning the exercices, sometimes even my japanese teacher does not understand the meaning.
I have 2 lessons left but I am really suffering. Also I do not see a significant progress concerning the language. Last but not least there is no grammar explanation. Iam talking about the intermediary book.
How can it be so popular I do not understand, may be it is my problem but as afr as I can see I am not alone.
