How to type in Japanese

I don't know if I am putting this in the right place, but anyway:

I have been trying to make it so that I can type in Japanese on my computer. I have succeeded in being able to do so in microsoft word, but not in Firefox. can anyone help me?

heh, thanks, I already followed those steps before posting this. I thought that something different had to be done for firefox, but I think it was something to do with my computer because it started working after I restarted my computer due to it freezing.

Ah, I see. Is it working alright now, or is some troubleshooting in order?
