Stroke Number

How necessary is it to memorize the stroke count when learning kanji?
I've learned 150 kanji so far without learning the stroke count, and I'm wondering if I should go back and memorize the stroke count of the kanji I already know or not.

what do you mean by memorizing the stroke count? You mean the number of strokes, not how to write the kanji, correct? If so, it's no so important to remember a number but it would be a good idea to know how to count the strokes so you can look up kanji you don't know in a dictionary.

Yes, i meant the number of strokes (they have the stroke count on the kanji flashcards so I was wondering if I needed to memorize that too).

In my opinion the stroke count is irrelevant.

There is a correct way to write each radical, and so if you're familiar with the radicals that make up a given character, then counting the strokes in order to look up a kanji in a dictionary is something you can quickly do in your head.

The "stroke number" allows for a self check because if you haven't written the Kanji with the correct number of strokes then it is wrong, even in the smallest way.
