log in every visit?

Postby stuu » August 16th, 2008 8:16 am

I know you've been tweaking the system but is it necessary to have to log in every time I visit jpod? Haven't had to do this for a long time. Any chance it could be rectified? Thanks.

Yeah, it'd be nice if we could select the length of the cookie life as well, since the two weeks or whatever it is isn't long enough (when it is working). It'd also be good if the main login could be rigged to the forum, to save us logging into both.

Cookie Issues

Postby boston1999 » August 19th, 2008 2:24 pm

I am glad I am not the only one having this login problem, where the login problem where the cookies don't work, and I have to re-enter my login info every time I bring up the browser.

I hope support is aware of the issue. I also get an error message when I try to login and click the remember me box.

Hey, Boston 1999:
I don't get the error message when I log in. Hmmm....

However, isn't it funny how such a little thing (having to login at each visit) is annoying? I mean, it takes only a couple of clicks to do it. We have become so impatient, as far as web usage goes, haven't we? We want INSTANT access!

Anyway, I'm sure the wonderful Tech Staff will get to this eventually.

Now that I've logged in to the forum again I can say yes, I do want instant access to the service I'm paying for. I don't want to have to log in, be taken to the Learning Centre page then go back to the Lessons page that I was already on, then have to log in to the forum and then be unable to view the 'posts since your last visit' because I've been logged out therefore having to go the forum index if I want to check if there's been any new additions. And you're right, it is 'such a little thing' hence my polite request that we could revert to how it's been for some time. Can't be that difficult. But then I wouldn't know as there's yet to be a response from jpod about it. Now if you'll excuse me I have to go and log on to the main page so I can check out today's lesson.

Hey Liz21,

Below is the funny error message I get when I login at each visit. I wonder what this means??

"Can't use foo : MySQL server has gone away"

Oh, well, I am sure also that they'll fix it eventually.

Cheers!

Mina-san,

The remember-me functionality should be working fine for everyone now, I've been using it for the past 3 days. If you are still having a problem, please let me know here.

boston1999 - are you still getting that strange error message each time you log in? I am unable to reproduce it. If you would like to have direct email support - please send an email referencing this post to

I'll be checking this thread,

I'm also getting the odd message

"Can't use foo : MySQL server has gone away"

when I try to log in using Firefox as my browser.

Any ideas what it is yet?
