What's Tidus saying? (Final Fantasy)

At the end of Final Fantasy X (on youtube: <http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=DaPZ-OlGzm8>), Tidus says something (starting at about 1:45 in this video) that sounds something like "Onegai -- kaidanakucha".

I can't find a Japanese transcript, or come up with any spelling that turns up any google hits.

Can somebody tell me what word he's saying here? Usually I can get at least enough of a clue to look it up on google or in a dictionary, but on this one I'm stumped.

Never watched FF before but....
sounds to me like "ore, kaerenakucha" = "I must go"
I think kaerenakucha is short for "kaerenakereba ikenai"

Well, you're close but off by one vowel. kaeru -> kaeranai -> kaeranakucha. You're completely right about the meaning, though! The grammar is shorthand for the ~tewa ikenai form.

He said "Ore kaeranakucha.", "おれ、かえらなくちゃ。" in hiragana, "俺、帰らなくちゃ。" in Kanji and Hiragana, "I have to go back" in English.

"おれ(俺)", "I" , is used among men.

"いけない" is often omitted in "～なくちゃいけない".
"～ちゃいけない" is very colloquial and used commonly in daily conversation.
It comes from "～しなくてはいけない", "have to".

Example;
たべなくちゃ、げんきになれないよ。　You have to eat, otherwise you can't get well.
いかなくっちゃ、おくれちゃう。　I have to go, or i'll be late.
