Ok guys, so I just got back from a trip to Japan and its amazing how quickly your knowledge can be concreted when using it in real situations.

However there was this one moment, and I tried to order a pack of 4 nuggets from KFC. But, I must have ordered 4 packs of 5 nuggets so I got 20 nuggets. Lets say I was not hungry for a long time after that.

This got me thinking, how do you specify numbers? Like, how would you say "4 nuggets please"?

Any help with this would be appreciated.

ナゲット を よっつ ください。 ( naggeto wo yottsu kudasai )

You can change the underlined word into one of following words.
1=ひとつ ( hitotsu) or いっこ ( ikkko )
2=ふたつ ( futatsu) or にこ ( niko )
3=みっつ ( mittsu) or さんこ ( sannko)
4=よっつ ( yottsu) or  よんこ ( yonko)
5=いつつ ( itsutsu) or  ごこ ( goko )
6=むっつ ( muttsu) or ろっこ ( rokko )
7=ななつ ( nanatsu) or ななこ ( naanko )
8=やっつ ( yattsu) or はちこ ( hachiko )
9=ここのつ ( kokonotsu) or きゅうこ ( kyuuko )

That works for nuggets, but unfortunately there are somewhere in the region of 100+ counters for various types of objects and living things. I'd really like to learn them all myself, but I haven't been able to find a book or anything that focuses on them; the best I have is an appendix in my dictionary :? Maybe I could add them to Anki and see how that works out...

Thanks for the help with that. Its a shame to hear there are so many counters, I thought it may have been more straight forward haha
