Question on Intermediate lesson 26

Postby sven » March 21st, 2008 5:08 am

at 1;10 in talking about yoshi she(natsuko?)says ” あたま ほんき だと思います” anyone want to explain that?

also the male speaker around the same time (1:00) uses an (i think) onomatopoeiatic phrase to describe yoshi’s face or expression: “poka~an”. anyone care to take a stab at that?

also at around 45 seconds at the begining the speaker says”よしは かんぜん に ちぐささん に まけてました” does that mean”yoshi lost completely to chigusa”?

oh and if anyone is feeling bored enough to answer all these questions, at around 6:20 does the speaker , in referring to people like ryuta, use the word “uchuujin” ? meaning “space alien”?

thanks to anyone kind enough to show off their knowledge.

Sven-san

I think 'あたまほんきだと思います' means: 'he means it for real , Ithink'.

Your translation as 'fully lost to Chigusa' seems correct to me.

as for the 'poka-an' I wonder if it was
ぽかんと =(adv) with a whack, slowly and lazily, gaping, absentmindedly, flabbergasted, (P)

I am off to get a life now...

thanks mikuji. Does anyone have any other colloqiual uses for ほんき? i looked it up as seriousness or truth, so i'm supposing this is a set phrase. While were on it , anyone have any other set phrase that go with あたま? atama warui, atama byouki, atama ii, etc.
