Timezone!

Postby JockZon » May 31st, 2006 10:28 am

Hello, I would like the timezone to change so I know when something on the commentaries are written. I don't think there would be any trouble to make the timezone changing depending on where you are :)

In the forum? You can change it in your user profile. You just have to know the "UTC +-" for your timezone.

You can get it here:
http://www.worldtimeserver.com

Eg for California I get this:

The current time in California, United States is
1:44 PM
( digital or analog )
Friday, June 02, 2006
DST -0700 UTC

The time stamp on the posts still says GMT, but it shows the correct local time.

I'd like to have different icons for threads that have new posts. Right now you get an arrow if you have a reply to your post (I think), but after that you can't tell if there's something new. I end up clicking on all the threads I'm interested in to see if there's new stuff.

What are the commentaries? I don't know what you mean, so I guessed forums.

You do not know that you can write commentaries to the lessons?

I think the problem here is that you are not actually logged in when you are posting comments to the individual lessons. Those are set up as a separate blog, not as part of the forum.

I guess they could add a "remember my timezone" option, like it remembers your name & e-mail address across posts. If it's available in the blog software, that is.

Ah, I see what you mean. That does seem like it might be a bit tricky.

I posted at 11:42 am, and the date stamp was 3:42 the next morning. So it's 16 hours ahead of my local time. I'm at GMT -7, so must be GMT +9.

<edit for bad math>

-0400 sounds right. The numbers increase (well decrease I guess since they're negative) as you head across the Pacific Ocean until you hit the Date Line.
