kyuu ni vs. ikinari vs. totsuzen

Postby goodtastingstea » March 26th, 2008 5:20 am

i'm pretty sure they all mean something to the effect of "sudden" or "abrupt" or all of a sudden, but could anyone elaborate more on the contexts in which you'd differentiate using one over there other please?

thanks in advance :)

As far as I know, they're all pretty much the same. They all have a sense of abruptness or unexpectedness like you said.

Try using this page if you have these sorts of problems. You can compare the results to get a feel for when each word is used. In case though, I don't think there's much difference; my dictionary lists them all as synonyms.

When you look up a word in the dictionary, try clicking the [Ex] link by the side of it, and it'll lead you to the examples.
