yeah, you gotta watch out with betas and new releases.

i reinstalled xp on a computer the other day and when i added rikaichan i saw the notice on the rikaichan page:

Note: Although rikaichan will install on Firefox 3 Beta, it is currently unstable and may crash. If you must use Firefox 3 Beta, try uninstalling the Names dictionary.

but i'm still using 2.0.0.12, so works like a charm.
i haven't seen firefox 3 yet, but from little i read it sounds like it'll be pretty sweet.

rikaichan 1.00 came out last night and they took down the warning about firefox 3....

i just installed Firefox 3 beta 4 and Rikai-chan is working fine.

i just installed firefox 3 beta 4 on my computer at home which was already running the new rikaichan and it doesn't work on this computer. and the warning is back up on the polar cloud page.

the only big difference is my computer at home is running, ugh, the cursed windows vista (no sp1). but my computer at work is xp professional sp2.

anyways...
don't take my previous post as an endorsement... yet. i'll stay on top of this one, as i think the new firefox is pretty cool.

There's usually a reason that beta software comes with a "use at your own risk" warning.

I was able to install Rikaichan and have it work for Firefox 3.ob5.
You must install the version from 2008 of Rikaichan without restarting the browser. Then the Japanese-English dictionary, again, without restarting. This last part is optional, but I find it useful to install the names dictionary. If you don't do this then go ahead and restart Firefox after you install the Japanese-English dictionary.

Yeah, that's the main reason I went back to Firefox 2, but no fear, the actual release of Firefox 3 is coming in June!

i've been running firefox 3 RC1 wih no problems. rikaichan works fine on it!

i love firefox 3!
