Speaking up for kawaiisou Peter

I've just moved from Peter to Rebecca in the Newbie series, lesson 55 on, and really notice the difference. Maybe I just have to get used to the change, and change is good at times, but as a new user of Jpod I really enjoy the lessons with Peter and can notice the difference when he is not in them.

So now starting the beginner series with Peter also in them.

I understand that Rebecca is doing the newbie lessons now. No disrespect to Rebecca, but I prefer Peter. I don't know, I think that he has away of doing the lessons in a very special way.

Though I've only listened to one of her lessons, I feel similarly. She has a much more formal, classroom style feeling to her teaching, whereas Peter is more laid back at-ease, like learning from a friend at the corner cafe. I'm sure Rebecca will find her niche as Peter did, but for me it just isn't Jpod without "aikawarazu zekkouchou desu."

i listened to her twice, and i noticed she does the vowel sounds up down or something, and yeah i listened to her with sachiko i think and it wasn't as fun as listening to peter.
i've been listening to the old beginner lessons and in my opinion, the older lessons were funnier, maybe more ad lib back then than there is now.

i reccomend the survival lessons 20 and 21, with peter yoshi sakura and takasei.
the humour in there is probably some of the best ive heard at jpod.

I had the same reaction about Rebekah the first times she was on air, but she really grows on you. And I guess since she's doing newbie lessons, not having so much ad-lib may actually be better for the listeners. I've come back to KoreanClass 101 recently, and I'm an absolute newbie at korean (where as when Jpod started I already had some years of japanese under my belt). Being a newbie is scary !!! And whenever there's too much ad-lib, or full korean comments in the newbie and beginner lessons, I fell utterly lost. So I think having some more relaxed atmosphere for the lower levels might actually be beneficial.

I had the same feeling. I think those ad-lib make the lesson fun, I find it "weird" to have a lesson without Peter too. I have tried listening to many language Podcast, including all the Jpod101 sister podcasts. I feel that Peter is the best guy I know in the Podcast, the only other person that I think of who is as good as Peter is someone called JP from Spanishpod.com.

May because Peter is a non-native Japanese speaker, I tend to remember those phrases he used more than the other host. I know at some point of the lesson, Peter stop taking part in the dialog. I personally feel that Peter should come back to take part in the dialog. I understand that there were complaints that Peter is not native and his Japanese accent is not accurate. However he is a great host. Accent does not really matter, as long as he is teaching the right thing.

I've been listening to Japanesepod101 since the beginning. I really loved Peter, Natsuko, and Sakura's interaction. Those were priceless!

I've been listening to Rebecca now, and at first she seems quite stiff. Her accent was also hard to get used to.

Ok, who first did the voice of Fabrizio? Seems like there is a different actor doing it now in Newbie lesson 63.

I'm still catching up (I'm on September 2006), but I just can't imagine jpod101 without him. If it wasn't for him making jokes all the time, I probably wouldn't have listened to every episode...

I like Peter and I like Rebecca and I'm sorry that I don't know if I'm spelling her name right, but you can see that the chemistry between her and Takasei is growing stroner every lesson.

Takase was the feisty one who was part of the Nagasaki connection; she left quite a while ago (:cry:). Naomi is the one who hosts the newbie lessons, and I agree, the chemistry does seem to be developing.

I think Rebekah is cool, and does a good job. Personally, I don't think they're much different from the old newbie lessons. The best lessons are with 2 of the Japanese hosts plus Peter, the group atmosphere leads to a lot more jokes, and seems to be more entertaining. I'm sure, however, that Peter doesn't have time to be in every lesson, and that three people in the studio every day is likely to be unrealistic as well.

They are always adding new points to all the lessons, many listen to the lowest level lessons even when they are at a higher level. There's always more to learn.

I agree Peter is a huge reason I went with Jpod he was so relaxed and fun that I couldent wait for the next lesson he kept me intrested in what was going on thus me getting a lot of things on the first listen great job Peter .

Peter comes across as a regular guy who seems to be learning Japanese along with us. When you dip back to the first Beginner lessons you see how much his pronunciation has improved. For the first year and a half it seemed that he just couldn't get Erclaren correct (pronouncing it more like Erclanen). He has a very approachable style which helps spur you on. You get the feeling "Hey, I can do this too"

He's still on EnglishPod101 which I'll listen to as well.

Thank you for mentioning...To behonest, when i first started jpod (beginner S1) for a while i thought he said " Aircleaning". It puzzled me for a while long time why a " translation and interpretation specialist" would call themself " aircleaning"??

i think it was about S1 #60 or so he adopted the later pronunciation.And somehow I found out the correct spelling of Erclaren along the way, so mystery solved

ps. Kiwis skip their vowel alot and dont always say the -ing part clearly.I am sure the rest of the world dont make the mistake I did...
