Skype Study?

Postby maxiewawa » January 22nd, 2008 10:11 am

Would anyone be interested in getting together on Skype and going through some JPod lessons? I'm interested in teaching, and want to try and get a regular study group going. I'm not sure how often it will be, how long it will be for, what we will do...

At the moment I'm interested in just taking names of people who would be interested in joining.

I'm certainly down, depending on schedule and stuff...I don't have a phone but I have a headset....

I'm out of town for work during the week, so it'll have to be fri-sun sometime.

keep me updated!

I'm in on this if we can get enough people and have it scheduled, though since there are people from all around the world on the forum it may be difficult to land on a time. I tried hosting something like this a few months ago using Skypecast-- a ton of people joined but it was riddled with technical problems. One can hope the network admins have gotten their acts together since then.

That aside you need to decide on the content, and that will depend on the levels of those who are joining. If you don't have a topic/example sentences you'll end up with a room full of people who don't know what to say. Practicing conversation/role-playing is a good start, grammatical explanations (since the jpod podcasts themselves are somewhat light in this area**) I think would be good also.

Anyways, I'm lookin' forward to seeing what you cook up. :D

**of what I've heard so far, which is restricted to the first 58 B-S1 lessons, along with a few LI and I lessons)

i would suggest having multiple skype things set up for different levels..it would be unfair to both beginner and advanced listeners to have to accommodate

Maybe meet in Second Life before

Postby ktnagel » January 29th, 2008 11:08 pm

Hello Maxiwawa-San and others,

maybe a good place to meet would be Second Life !

At least there is a (quite realistic) Onsen together with a Tea-House
at Nagaya in Juho (88, 164, 62),

an alternative would be Ryoanii, in Pyrina (209, 107, 30) where a Zen-Shrine is.

by the way, there are lots of other interesting places related to japanese culture and japan in SL.

anyone interested in meeting somewhere there?
message me if so

ktnagel
best wishes from germany ;)

erm :? no offence, but isn't that bit weird?
i mean i can do msn, skype isn't, but i've heard that this "second life" is a little bit like a world where people go to escape from the real world...

speaking for myself, my preference would be to talk with my japanese friends, and the alternative is to run through lessons via skype,

maybe i'm wrong, but if i wanna escape (and vent ;)), then a good shooter is the way to go!

Hey guys, sorry it's been so long, but for some reason this thread didn't come up in my RSS feed.

I've been writing some lesson plans based on jPod lessons, and the only thing left is to meet up.

My skype name is maxiewawa, and I'm online sporadically... I think the best thing is to just send me a message on Skype, and go from there!
