Japanese Language Institutes in Japan?

Hi everyone!

I'm interested in being able to go to Japan, either as a tourist or as a student.

Anyone have information on legitimate and excellent Japanese Language Institutes in Japan?
I've searched a lot of websites, and a lot of them seem great on paper, but I would like to hear accounts from people who actually went.

Any information will be appreciated!

Sorry for the late reply.

My experience is with the japanese course at Tokai University. I studied there for 1.5 years, and I found it pretty good. They have 10 levels, where 1 is absolute beginner, and 1 is "pretty advanced" (watching news, writing reports on japanese economy and government etc). The price is about 270.000 yen per semester (convert to your own currency with your favorite tool! I use www.xe.com/ucc ). The teachers are good, the students are great. The only downside is that its about 70 minutes by train from Tokyo.

Tokyo University do some Japanese courses aswell.

I went to a school in Aichi ken in Okazaki shi called the Yamasa Institute:

They have a number of programs and can accomodate any level of Japanese. I went for a 6 week summer intensive course and it was really a great experience.

Check them out. Its realtively inexpensive and its in the Tokyo area (which is nice for people like me who like a city environment )

I just recently came from a small language school in Fukuoka, Kyuushuu by the name of Genki JACS. They were highly affordable, and totally go the extra mile for everyone. I was there for a month, and that included an apartment. I paid rougly 1,600USD for my month stay there. You might want to check them out.

If you're studying for the JLPT this is deffinately the place to go as they work closely with the Japanese Ministry of Language, so they have special courses made for the level tests.
