関西弁 - Kansai Dialect

Postby yoshifeatures » November 22nd, 2007 11:27 am

Maybe it's just be, but has Jpod neglected the best part of the Japanese language? I think we need an entire series devoted to Kansai-ben.
Maybe it's because Jpod is Tokyo based?

there are a few lessons on kansai dialect no?

but i think for the most parts, teaching the mainstream japanese first should be top priority because it is the main language.

if you're teaching english, you would wanna teach english as your main priority instead of, say... the australian slang, or the british, or the american slang right?

so i think, if i were in jp101 shoes, i'd say not because ip101 is based in tokyo, but because the priority is on teaching people who have zero knowledge on the japanese language to actually speak it.

my 2 cents worth (or 2 yen worth).

true that is.
however not all jpod is beginner, so as i suggested, perhaps a mini series or something because i know it would be popular no?

actually, this has been brought up numerous times. i personally would love to do a series on a osaka-ben, but it's a question of getting the right people. no one at jpod is from kansai, so nobody wants to attempt to be an authority on the issue. in time we will cover it, trust me. it's very high on my "to do list."

but since 大阪弁 is so high profile on tv, we've inevitably included many kansai words in conversations. recently, しんどい comes to mind (in the series "overweight luggage"). i can't recall others off the top of my head, but these kinds of kansai words have become so common that they've "accidentally" found their way into our conversations.

that said, i agree with you completely, at some point we have to present the kansai dialect! 8)

Considering Okinawa was it's own country (I think) with it's own language for a long time, it's only natural.

LOL, just playin devils advocate. Definately gotta learn Osaka-ben. But theres lots of dialects throughout Japan, so dont forget the others. Besides, if you heard real Kansai-ben it sounds like the english in compton, ouch. Sure its neat, but you wont make friends using it outside of kansai-ben speaking areas if you lay it on thick.
