Have you heard of _____ ?

Postby Fedgrub » November 19th, 2007 12:52 am

I was just wondering what the best way to say "Have you heard of (the night club name)

The part of "have you heard" is the hard section.

If someone could please help me out with some instructions on how to piece it together as well as the answer it would be greatly appreciated, it helps me learn.

Thanks!

I would probably use the 聞いたことがありますか construction. Eg:

XXXというナイトクラブを聞いたことがありますか?

You might also be able to get away with just "do you know" rather than "have you heard of", using 知っていますか、ご存知ですか or similar.

examples from ALC:

"You've heard of it, right?" "Yeah, I think so."
「聞いたことあるでしょ?」「うん、そう思う」

I've heard of him, but I can't picture him.
名前を聞いたことはあるけど、彼の顔は思い浮かべられないな。

Thanks Nick! Kanji loses me haha. But I think I roughly get where you are going with it.
