hey im new to site and im also looking to learn im in the 7 day trial atm but wanting any suggestions for what i should do next

that's great! i don't know how far ahead you are with japanese, but if you're like me who knows nothing about the language when i first started, beginner season 1 lesson 1 might be a good place to start. =)

edit: if you got more time to spend, you could try beginner season 1 lesson 1 + newbie lesson 1 + newbie nihongo dojo lesson 1.

i know very basic limited japanese im visiting in febuary with college and may want to move there in the future i have diwnloaded quite a few bagginer lessons and also a few newbie ones just wondering where to take it i have only been listening to them in college on the bus at home and in bed also i started to learn hirigana but the charachters slip from me if i dont practice every day so i know like 20 or so

heh.. i catch my lessons during travelling too! i find that it puts a smile on my face so often because it's just so much more interesting than listening to music.

a good and practical way to learn and remember hiragana is to actually use it constantly. i used to play japanese rpg console games and they have plenty of hiragana and katakana in it. that was a good place to start for me. if you have a PSP or a DS, you could get some japanese games and try it out.

also i think somewhere in this forum, someone posted something abt a learning software for DS where they show you a hiragana word, and you write it with the stylus. that would be one of the best ways to learn hiragana i think.

wow that sounds ace! i may have to find that DS thing i think im gonna introduce a freind to the site, i learned a few phrases in the space of 20 mins and have never forgot them because we were pretending to have a conversation so if we both learn then talk about it then it should help alot

don't buy the DS first though... i'm not sure if that writing program is for the DS, or if it's even out (it might have been a hypothetical idea).
