Takubin

Postby tequilatamm » November 11th, 2007 11:01 pm

While I'm at it with the lesson suggestions, I would love to see one on Takuhaibin (or Takubin... assuming these are just two different ways to say the same thing).

Every year that we've gone to Japan and travelled between cities by train, we notice we're the only ones carrying luggage.

So this year, after finding a lot of info about Takubin, we're planning to forward our luggage. We land in Tokyo and will forward one bag to our hotel in Osaka (that we will arrive at the following day) and one to Kyoto (that we will arrive at 3 or 4 days later).

We're wondering how to approach the hotels to find out if they will store the luggage for us until we get there, and how long they will store it, in the case of Kyoto... is 3 or 4 days acceptable?

We have located the Takubin outlets at Narita Airport, but are wondering if one company is generally favoured over another, how do we go about filling out paperwork to send the luggage... will they have info in English?

It's all very new.

So something on the phraseology for how to ask such questions at the Takubin desk, how to approach the hotel on the topic, etc.
