あのブラジル人がこうやった時に。。。

What does こう means here? Can someone please help me to explain?

こう, そう, ああ, and どう are used with verbs to express the way in which something is done, i.e. 'like this', 'that way', 'how', etc.

Literally the sentence would be 'when that Brazilian did like this', so you should think in these terms when you're writing Japanese, but you'd drop the 'like' when translating to English.
