Saying "Today is my birthday!"

I have a question. My brother has asked me how to say "Today is my birthday!" in Japanese. But I don't know what to tell him. Should it be:

きょう の わたし わ たんじょうび です!
Kyou no watashi wa tanjoubi desu?

Or is there some other way to say it? If I could get some clarification on that, that would be great of you guys. Thank you.

I would say:

今日は私の誕生日です。
きょうはわたあしのたんじょうびです。
kyou wa watashi no tanjoubi desu.

"Today" is the topic marked by 'wa'. Because it's "my birthday", you use the possessive 'no' particle (watashi NO tanjoubi). Then end it with 'desu'!

"Kyou no watashi" doesn't make sense to me...

Ah, also, the particle 'wa' is written has 'ha' 「は」。

i suppose if you said "kyou no watashi" that would mean, if anything, "the me of today"...right?

you don't need the watashi part - it can be assumed

今日は誕生日です。
きょうはたんじょうびです。

I think you can drop the は as well but I am not certain about that

今日、誕生日です。=It is my birthday today.

今日は誕生日です。：　今日 is a subject of the sentence.
今日、誕生日です。：　今日 is an adverb of the sentence.

You can use both of them.
