Little clarification :O

Postby Clox » July 26th, 2007 12:57 am

Ok so i'm looking into this and i'm having the little trouble.

Basically what i want to say is "for love" and i'm just trying to get the politness levels of how to say this or basically, you would look at the symbols and know right away that it means "for love".

Now i'm pretty sure "for love" is 愛ため but i'm not to confident with this actually, so if some body could give a clarification as to how you would say "for love" then that would be great. Also maybe a more clear way to say this so you would understand it but i'm pretty sure if you wanted to understand what you were to say you would need a subject along with this. Anyway feedback would be awesome, thanks

I hope everyone understands what i just said cause i got confused hehehe.

You're close. It would be 愛のため(に).

It depends on how it's used. 愛のため is a noun phrase. If you want to use it to modify an action, you need に.

-これは全部愛のためだ。 -"This is all for the sake of love."
-愛のために何でもする - "[I] would do anything for the sake of love."

In the first sentence, it's simply being used as a noun phrase while in the 2nd, it's being used to modify the verb phrase 何でもする.

BTW, this is not just limited to 愛のため but applies to ため in general.
