i was reading a book today and i came across the following sentence and i cant get across it:

"女の子の警備だっていうから喜んでたのに"
(onna no ko keibi datte iu kara yorocondeta noni)

my main problem is the "datte iu kara" part of the sentence, i just cant understand its meaning, never before i've seen a "datte iu" pattern.

my guess for the translation would be

"although/even though they were pleased/happy with the girls security"

if possible can anyone give me a little help with this

「～だっていうから」　means "S(subject) said that ～, that's why ・・・".

"女の子の警備だっていうから喜んでたのに"
(onna no ko keibi datte iu kara yorocondeta noni)

= I felt I was lucky because you told that my job was security for a girl.

In this situation, maybe someone said like this "Today you are security for a girl."
And the person who said "女の子の警備だっていうから喜んでたのに" felt he was lucky. But in the end the person was disappointed the result.(for example; "a girl" is 80 years old)

I think this part (datte iu kara) is used frequently when people want to explain or complain something because they listend something.

Please imagine the situation that your mother suggested "Le'ts have a big BBQ party tonight!" So you bought a lot of beer, meat, vegetables and called your friends. But she didn't prepare anything and she just said "Oh I forgot. ok tomorrow is the party " Then you can complain like this ;

"今夜BBQ パーティだっていうから、友達呼んだのに"
= I already called my friends because you told me　we have BBQ party tonight.

I'm not at all sure I do either. However, I think it maybe works like this:-

no is nominalising the preceding phrase Marakami ga shinda, making it "The death of Murakami".

mo is doing its usual job as either an inclusive or non-exclusive topic marker.

kou iu is basically like konna, meaning "like this" or "such" and applying to the noun that follows (in this case toki).　To be honest, I don't really understand the difference between kou iu and konna.

So altogther I think it means something like "The death of Murakami was (also) such a time".
