Sumimasen…
First i would like to apologise if the question i ask might be a lot :(
i have try to find the meaning with dictionary & google translate.

i can understand the overall meaning, but i don't understand the grammar, as to why the word is used and the meaning literally… so i will really appreciate if there's someone who could help explain them to me… >__<
i wrote in more details as what element i don't understand in each sentence, below...

tasuketekudasai >__<

===================================================
ある国に、タマろという名前の、頭はよいのにあまり自信のない王子様がいました。
aru kuni ni, tamaro toiu namae no,atama wa yoi noni amari jishin no nai ouji-sama ga imashita.

>what is the purpose of "toiu" there ?
>whats the meaning of "amari" jishin no nai ?
amari is not very, jishin is self confidence, but nai is no…
so literally its not , not very confident (meaning he's confident?) i know i think i understand it wrong…

===================================================
あらゆる民に愛される偉大な王様でしたが、そう思うとよけいに自信がなくなります。
arayuru tami ni aisareru idai na ou-sama deshita ga, sou omouto yokei ni jishin ga nakunarimasu

>"aisareru" is potential of being loved? and "idai" is greatness?
i thought the overall meaning was the king greatly beloved by his people.
but what i understand literally was "the greatness want to be loved king by every people…??? i know its wrong… :'(

> i don't understand the second one at all… "sou omouto yokei ni" (i've tried google translate , but it makes no sense…)
sou is so… omou is think. but what is "sou omouto" ?
"jishin ga nakunarimasu." i know i think this one means to "lost the self-confidence"…
===================================================
それなのに、 ある時、父親がこう言ってきたのです。
sore na noni, aru toki, chichi-oya ga kou ittekitano desu

> i search in dictionary that "sore na noni" is a phrase (but & yet), so i understand it as (inspire of that), but i think it don't fit the story line if using inspire of that… what is the correct meaning of it within this sentence ?
>itte is from iu, tell… what is "ittekitano" means ?
===================================================
「そろそろわしも引退して、お前に位をゆずろうと思う」
sorosoro washi mo intaishite, omae ni kurai wo yuzurouto omou

> i don't understand the "omae ni kurai" and "yuzurouto omou" meaning…
"kurai" in dictionary is rank , so "omae ni kurai" , means your rank ? doesn't make sense to the story :( i think its better to be legacy/throne… or am i mistaken ?
===================================================
王子様はよろこぶどころか大いに困りました。
ouji-sama wa yorokobu-dokoro ka ooi ni komarimashita

> i can't find the meaning of "yorokobu-dokoro"… :(
> what is the "ka" purpose there ?
===================================================
王様になる自信なんて、まったくありません。
ou-sama ni naru jishin-nante, mattaku arimasen.

> what is "jishin nante" & "mattaku arimasen" ?

cella28104087 san,

1. Toiu means “is called/named”.
2. Nai is negative form of jisin ga aru.
3. Aisaresu is passive form “to be loved”. In English passive form basically is not used here. However, the translation is correct.
4. Sou means ‘so’. Omou means ‘think’. To indicates conditional. Yuokeini means ‘more’ however, it is followed by negative here so it means “less”.
When/if the king thinks so, he has less confidence.
5. "~ te kita (~てきた)" is the verb te form (which is a Japanese verb form. It does not indicate tense by itself, but it combines with other verb forms to create tenses,) + "kita". "Kita" is past tense of the verb "kuru (to come, to get, to become)". "~te kuru (~てくる)" is used to express that an action or a state continues over a period of time.
6. Omae means “you”. Kurai means “the crown/throne” here. Yuauru means “give” and yuzurou is volitional form.
7. In 「S1 どころか S2」, S1 indicates that someone or something is very far from an expected state. In S2 appears a situation quite different from the situation expressed in S1.
8. Nante means “and so on; and the like; for example; things like ~” and also indicates “emphasis of an unexpected feeling or a negative feeling.”
9. Mattaku arimasen measn “there is no at all”.
