Kaze Tachinu

風立ちぬ (Kaze Tachinu) is a new movie from Hayao Miyazaki (The one who was involved with Princess Mononoke, Spirited Away, Howl's Moving Castle, My Neighbor Totoro, etc.).

Most translations translated the title as "The Wind Rises" or "Wind Rises". I know that:
風 means wind
立つ means stand, rise, go up

But what does "tachinu" mean? What conjugation is that?

Any help would be appreciated

風 and 立つ are exactly what you just mentioned.
Here, ぬ is a perfect tense. It means being completely done. It always comes after "masu form" such as 立ちます(tachimasu).

So if I make a literal translation of 風立ちぬ, it'd be "The wind has risen."

Be careful, if the ぬ comes after "nai form" like 立たない, it means "not". So 風立たぬ (tatanu) would mean "The wind does not rise".

It sounds very close, but the meaning is totally different!
