ふにふに (Funifuni)

Hello,

I ran across the gitaigo "ふにふに” and can't seem to find it in any of my dictionaries. Is anyone familiar with it?

The full sentence is:

拙者トモどの大好きでござる。ふにふにと気持ちヨイのもお気に入りである。
Sessha Tomo-dono daisuki degozaru. Funifunito kimochi yoi no mo oki ni iri dearu.
(This is a dog who uses an archaic form of Japanese speaking about a human girl that he is fond of, heh.)

It seems to mean soft. It's hard to translate the sentence without changing it though. 'I also like how she feels so soft' or something might be acceptable. I'm just going by what my friend said, since I couldn't find it in a dictionary anywhere or anything useful on Google...

I've come across it as ぷにぷに punipuni　squishy
might you have missed the handakuten?
