会社 vs 仕事

I was just wondering if the words above are interchangeable?

I didn't think so, based on the English translation. However in a couple of lessons "kaisha" is used where I would expect to find "shigoto"

An example is:

"会社を休みます”

So when do you use one or the other? I would say in English

"I'm going to work (shigoto)"

not

"I'm going to company (kaisha)"

I can see the logic in using kaisha there. But then, when do you use shigoto?

Hm, intereting question. I don't believe they're interchangable much. 仕事 is just work or a job, while 会社 is more like the company you work for. I recall that 会社 can also mean your office at work.

So is office meant to be taken literally there? I mean, someone who works in an actual shirt and tie "office" goes to "会社" whereas someone like me (a trucker) goes to "仕事"?

Or is it just 仕事 is going to work in general and 会社 is going to the actual workplace?

So I drive a truck and deliver construction materials around southern Louisiana. So when I go to the shop and get my truck I'm going to "会社." But when I'm driving around delivering things to Laffayette, Baton Rouge, New Orleans, or Covington I'm at "仕事"
