This is a 10-week course via the Zoom App. You join 4 other students and learn from JapanesePod101’s own teachers with our structured course for the next 10 weeks. All from the comfort of your home.

What software and hardware do I need?

You can learn on any smartphone, tablet, or computer with 1) a camera and 2) a microphone. You will also need to have the free Zoom App installed.
What will be the schedule of my online classes?

You have 3 options to choose from in the sign up form. Our dedicated activation team will do their best to place you in a time slot that’s most convenient for you.
Can I switch to a class at a different time?

Unfortunately, no. Once you decide on a day and time, this schedule is set for the 10-week duration. Your weekly classes will be on the same day and time every week.
What is the course methodology?

Our Live Group Classes follow a communicative and task-based learning methodology. Each lesson is based around a specific task, whether introducing yourself, talking about where you’re from, or talking about the weather. Along the way, you will learn all the necessary words, grammar rules, and have plenty of opportunities to communicate in Japanese with your teacher.
Who will be teaching?

You will be assigned a teacher from our highly trained team of native Japanese teachers.
What course materials will I get?

You get a 6-month Premium PLUS subscription to JapanesePod101, our Absolute Beginner level PDF textbook and access to a special learning pathway. Everyone gets the Absolute Beginner textbook regardless of their level. You also get weekly audio lessons, assignments, and lesson notes covering the material taught in the Live Classes.
Will I receive something to show learning progress?

Students with a final grade of 60% or higher will receive a certificate of completion as proof of their Japanese skills. Your final grade will be based on 1) your class attendance, 2) pathway completion, and 3) grades of assessments inside the pathway.
How does Daylight Savings affect my class schedule?

Our classes will not observe any time changes. Please keep this in mind when selecting your class slots. If there is a time change scheduled to occur in your local area during the semester, your class will be offset by one hour in your local time.
