You’ve learned so much kanji lately and you are probably ready for rest. |
Instead, why not take a look at the kanji that means rest? |
Now let’s draw today’s kanji. The meaning for this kanji is to rest. |
Now we are going to have a trick for memorizing this kanji in just a minute but let’s first look at the kanji readings. |
And remember, there are two readings in Japanese kanji? One is On readings and the other one is Kun readings. Long story short, the On reading comes from Chinese and the Kun reading comes from Japanese. |
The On reading for this kanji is キュウ (kyū) and the Kun reading for this kanji is やす (yasu). やす (yasu) is in やすむ (yasumu). |
And remember the hint that I was telling you about? Let’s look at that now. |
This left part, this part indicates the person or human and the right part indicates the tree. So a person resting under the tree. |
Now let’s learn how to draw this kanji. Pay attention to the stroke order, it’s very important. 1, 2, 3, 4, 5, 6. Let’s try it again. Person 1, 2, a tree 3, 4, 5, 6. |
