INTRODUCTION
Natsuko: こんにちは、なつこです。
Naomi: なおみです。
Anthony: Anthony here. It's One Thing after Another.
Naomi: タイトルは・・・次から次へと　ですかね。
Natsuko: そうですね。今日のフレーズは「次から次へと」と似た言い方なんですけど、「～と思ったら～」を勉強します。状況がすごく速く変っていく様子をあらわす表現なんです。
Anthony: In this lesson you'll learn about a phrase that indicates a situation where one thing happens right after another.
Natsuko: 今回の会話は　二人の同僚同士の会話です。コンピューターの添付ファイルについて話しをしているみたいですよ。
Naomi: 上原さんという男性とひなこさんという女性の会話ですね。
Natsuko: そうですね。この女性は上原さんに対して、丁寧に話していますので、おそらく男性のほうが年上なんでしょうね。
Anthony: The conversation is between 2 colleagues and they are talking about an attached document. Since the woman is speaking formally, we assume that the man is older than the woman.
Natsuko: それでは、聞いてみましょう。
DIALOGUE
ひなこ:上原さん、おはようございます。
: あのぉ、添付ファイルが開けられないんですが、見ていただけますか。
上原:じゃぁ、課の共有フォルダに入れておいてよ。
: 今、パソコンが立ち上がったと思ったら、フリーズしちゃって、再起動しているところなんだ。
ひなこ:最近、上原さんのコンピュータ、調子悪いですね。
上原:うん、まめに、デフラグしないといけないな。
: ところで、そのファイルの拡張子は何だった？
ひなこ:確か、mv4だったと思います。
上原:なんだ、それなら、動画ファイルだから、QuickTimeで開くはずだよ。
ひなこ:それ、私のPCに入ってないと思います。じゃぁ、ダウンロードしなくちゃいけないんですね。
上原:あ、ちょっと待って。やっと、パソコンが立ち上がった。どれどれ。。。
上原（心の中）:何だこれ、田口からひなこちゃんへの愛の告白ビデオじゃないか。こんなの、ひなこちゃんに見せられないな。
上原:このファイル、壊れてるよ。QuickTimeが立ち上って、再生し始めるかと思ったら、エラーになっちゃったよ。
ひなこ:そうですか。あ、でも、大丈夫です。たぶん、仕事と関係ないと思いますから。
: すみません。お手数おかけしました。
Natsuko:次は英語が入ります。

ひなこ:上原さん、おはようございます。
Anthony: Good morning, Mr. Uehara.
: あのぉ、添付ファイルが開けられないんですが、見ていただけますか。
:Umm, I can’t seem to open an attachment I got. Would you mind taking a look at it for me?
上原:じゃぁ、課の共有フォルダに入れておいてよ。
: Could you put it in the department’s shared folder?
:Just when I thought my computer had started up, it froze and I’ve had to restart it.
ひなこ:最近、上原さんのコンピュータ、調子悪いですね。
: Your PC isn’t working too well lately, is it Mr. Uehara?
上原:うん、まめに、デフラグしないといけないな。
: Yeah, I think I need to defragment more often.
: ところで、そのファイルの拡張子は何だった？
:By the way, what is the extension on that file?
ひなこ:確か、mv4だったと思います。
: I’m pretty sure it was ‘mv4.’
上原:なんだ、それなら、動画ファイルだから、QuickTimeで開くはずだよ。
: Oh, well then it's a video file. You should be able to open it with QuickTime.
ひなこ:それ、私のPCに入ってないと思います。じゃぁ、ダウンロードしなくちゃいけないんですね。
: Ah, I don’t think I have that on my PC. I guess I’ll have to download it then.
上原:あ、ちょっと待って。やっと、パソコンが立ち上がった。どれどれ。。。
: Oh, hang on. It looks like my computer is finally back up again. Let’s see here…
上原（心の中）:何だこれ、
: What is this?
:田口からひなこちゃんへの愛の告白ビデオじゃないか。
: It’s a video love letter to Hinako from Taguchi.
:こんなの、ひなこちゃんに見せられないな。
:Well, I can’t let her see this drivel.
上原:このファイル、壊れてるよ。
: It looks like this file is corrupt.
:QuickTimeが立ち上って、再生し始めるかと思ったら、エラーになっちゃったよ。
: QuickTime starts up and starts playing the file, but then it just generates an error message.
ひなこ:そうですか。あ、でも、大丈夫です。たぶん、仕事と関係ないと思いますから。
: Oh really? Well, that’s okay. I think maybe it wasn’t work-related anyway.
: すみません。お手数おかけしました。
:Thanks for your help, and sorry to bug you.
POST CONVERSATION BANTER
Naomi: あの・・・すみません、私コンピュータ音痴なんで、デフラグって何ですか？
Anthony: 　defragmentation　のことです。
Naomi: デフラグメンテイション？。。。というのは何でしょう？
Anthony: ファイルの中のフラグメンテーションをなくすことですね。
Naomi: わからない。じゃ、なつこさん、すみませんが、もう少しわかりやすい日本語でお願いします。
Natsuko: 私もあんまり詳しくないんですけどね、ま、たぶん簡単にいうと、コンピューターがファイルを読むスピードが遅くならないように、ばらばらになっているデーターを正しい順序に整理しなおすという意味みたいですよ。
Naomi: なるほど。わかるような・・・やっぱりわからないような。
Natsuko: でも今回のストーリーには、デフラグは直接は関係はしてないですね。
Naomi: まあそうですね。動画ファイルがあけられないとかなんとかいう話でしたからね。
Anthony: でも、このあと、動画ファイルはどうなったんでしょうね。
Naomi: あ、ストーリーの中ですね。共有ファイルに入っている・・・ということは。。。。誰でも見られるってことですよね・・・・。
Anthony:あら、やばいじゃないですか。
Naomi:愛のメッセージ
Natsuko: でも、普通はやんないですよね。動画ファイルつけてね。愛のメッセージのね。
Naomi:ま、それだけ愛されてるっていうことなんでしょう。では、単語に入っていきましょう。
VOCAB AND PHRASE USAGE
Naomi: 最初の単語は
Natsuko: 添付
Anthony: attachment
Naomi: て↓んぷ　とも　て↑んぷ　　とも言われます。to attachにしたい時は「添付する」です。　メールでよく使われていますよね。たとえば、
Natsuko: 書類を添付しましたので、確認してください。
Anthony: I attached a document, so please check it.
Natsuko: ダイアログには「添付ファイル」　attached file という言葉が出てきましたが、attached document なら「添付書類」または「添付ドキュメント」「添付文書」なんてもいいますね。
Naomi: では、次の単語お願いします。
Natsuko: 立ち上がる
Anthony: to stand up, When you are talking about computer it means to start up
Naomi: 面白いですよね。実際に立ち上がる to stand up　という意味以外にも「立ち上がる」には「機械が動き始める」という意味があるんですね。
Natsuko:なんか、コンピュータがよいしょってやるのかな。
Naomi:なんかイメージ的にはね。
Natsuko:はじめるぞっていう感じなんですかね。
Anthony:本当に立ち上がってしまったら、人類は
Natsuko:完全に人類負けちゃいますね。では、例文をお願いします。
Natsuko: このコンピューター立ち上がるまでに時間がかかる。
Anthony: It takes forever for this computer to start up.
Naomi: 最後はフレーズを見ていきましょう。
Natsuko: お手数をおかけしました。
Anthony: Thanks for your help, and sorry to bug you.
Naomi: ビジネスでは絶対に必要なフレーズですね。
Natsuko:私もいつもなおみさんに書きますよね。
Naomi:私はいつもなつこさんにお手数をおかけしまして、すみませんとか、そんなんばっかりです。
Anthony: 訳ではThanks と　Sorry　となっていますが、実際、ごめんとかありがとうとかは直接言っていないですよね。
Natsuko: そうですね。いいポイントですね。お手数をおかけしましたというのは「私はあなたに手数troublesをかけました」「私はあなたに迷惑をかけました」という意味ですから、そのまま訳すなら、英語だとI caused you some troubleという意味になりますかね。
Naomi: 「すみません」が省略されてしまっているんでしょうね。
Natuko: もちろん今回のダイアログのように、「すみません、お手数をおかけしました」と言うこともあるんですけど、この「すみません」がなかったとしても、「すみません」という意味はふくまれるということです。
Naomi:では、文法に入っていきたいと思います。
Naomi: 今回の文法は「～と思ったら～」次から次に何かが起きたときとか、状況が速く変わって、少し、驚いている気持ちを伝える時につかいます。説明が難しくなってしまったんですが、例文を見ていきましょう。
Natsuko: パソコンが立ち上がったと思ったら、フリーズしちゃって
Anthony: Just when I thought my computer had started up, it froze
Naomi: と思ったらの前はinformal form　にしてくださいね。なつこさん、これは、どうゆう状態ですか？
Natsuko: あ、パソコンが動き始めた！あれ、すぐフリーズしちゃったよ。。。。こんな状態です。
Anthony: Yes! the computer stared up.Oh man, It froze!
Naomi: ～と思ったらの後ろに「すぐに as soon as 」をいれるとわかりやすいですね。「パソコンが立ち上がったと思ったら、すぐにフリーズして、ちょっとびっくりした。」ということですね。もうひとつ例文をお願いします。
Natsuko: 次郎は、やっと起きたかと思ったら、何も食べずに学校へ行った。
Anthony: When Jiro finally woke up, he went off to school right away without eating anything.
Naomi: あ、次郎おきたんだ・・え？もう学校行くの？早っ！こんな感じですね。ものすごく速く着替えて、走って、出て行くような感じですね。
Natsuko: 「おきたかと思ったら」こういう風に「とおもったら」の前に「か」が入ることもありますね。
Naomi: そうですね、次郎はおきたと思ったら、学校へ行った。次郎はおきたかと思ったら、学校へ行った。両方とも全く同じ意味です。
Anthony: In this lesson, we'll learn "-- (ka) to omottara" (~（か）と思ったら), a phrase that you can use when you want to talk about how one thing happens right after another. The construction looks like this
[Sentence A + (ka) to omottara (（か）と思ったら) + Sentence B], and means that [Right after Sentence A occurred, Sentence B occurred]. The implication is that the action in Sentence A had just started when Sentence B took place. It's also implied that the speaker feels that whatever happened in Sentence B was unexpected. Sentence A, the one that comes before (ka) to omottara (（か）と思ったら) is in the informal past form.
Naomi: このレッスンではつぎから、つぎに何かが起きて、ちょっと戸惑っている気持ちを「～とおもったら～」を使って表すことが出来るということを勉強しましたが、なつこさんに例文を作ってもらいましょう。
Natsuko: 急ぎの仕事をかたづけたと思ったら、すぐに次の仕事がきたよ。
Naomi:実感こもってますね。
Natsuko:なんか、先週そんな感じでした。
Naomi:すごい忙しそうでしたもんね、なつこさん、先週。
Natsuko:時々ね、そういうことあるんですよね。
Naomi:アンソニーさんは何かありますか？
Anthony:ようやく、先週のレッスンの復習が終わったかと思ったら、もう今週のレッスンが始まったんだ。
Natsuko:あ、これも結構、実感こもっている人がいるかな。
