| Peter: Then we have the particle, の (no). |

| Peter: Very simple. Now let’s try a little something here to expand it or wait, let’s save that for after. Let’s go through this conversation first. Now we have something to look forward to. Akihiro-san, what do we have next? |

| Peter: Again repeating and here just reading back the first part of the last sentence just verifying it. Computer’s password. Now Naomi-sensei, |

| Peter: There is no です (desu) here. It’s very informal. What’s going on here? Why is it so informal? |
| Naomi: I think he is kind of talking to himself. |
| Peter: So if he is talking to himself, it doesn’t have to be polite. |
| Naomi: はい。(Hai.) |
| Peter: So he is kind of running it by himself like you know when you think it to yourself, the computer’s password… umm. |
| Naomi: Exactly. |
| Peter: And this is verified by the next line, which is |

| Peter: The first part there we have is |
| Akihiro: えっと (etto) |
| Peter: Which is equivalent to hmm, it’s a filler. It’s a Japanese filler when you need some time to think about what you are going to respond to and here he is thinking about what’s the password and in this case, one more time Naomi-sensei, what is the password? |
| Naomi: 会社の電話番号です (kaisha no denwa bangō desu) |
| Peter: The company’s telephone number. Literally we have here hmm… Company’s telephone number is, but again what’s inferred here? |
| Naomi: It. |
| Peter: So literally hmm…company’s telephone number is it and we just changed the order here. It is the company’s telephone number. Now if we just want to give you a little comparison of what it would look like next to a textbook, Naomi-sensei, what would this response look like in a textbook? |

| Peter: Now you heard the first part, コンピューターのパスワード (konpyūtā no pasuwādo), but as it’s understood as the topic that we are talking about, that gets dropped. Don’t need to repeat it. |

| Peter: Kind of this kind of exchange here. So I think it works well. |

| Peter: Then we have |

| Peter: What is the company’s phone number? Now here we have this week’s grammar point combined with last week’s grammar point. |

| Peter: What is this but that これ (kore) can be changed. |

| Peter: Company’s telephone number. The company’s telephone number is what? Literally we have, company’s telephone number is. So what is the company’s telephone number? Then we have |

| Peter: Now one quick thing we want to point out about this telephone number. There are a few things we could tell right off the bat. If you see or hear 03, what do you know right away? |
| Naomi: It’s in Tokyo. |
| Peter: Tokyo number. Now second, this has – this number has 9 digits. |
| Naomi: Ah… |
| Peter: Which makes it invalid. This is not a real number. |
| Naomi: はい。(Hai.) So don’t call it. Don’t call this number. |
| Peter: To be a real number, a real Tokyo number, what does it need? |
| Naomi: One more number. |
| Peter: So I want it to be a real number. It needs one more number. The way Tokyo numbers are broken down, it’s two digits followed by hyphen which Naomi-san covered sometimes when speaking is referred to as の (no) two digits hyphen, four digits hyphen, four digits. We only have 2, 3, 4. So it doesn’t quite work here but again more about this inside the PDF. Today’s PDF has an amazing write up. So before we head out today, we just want to go over numbers. So what we are going to do here is it’s kind of the same format as the vocab.
