Eric: Must-Know Japanese Social Media Phrases Season 1. Lesson 11 - Changing Your Relationship Status.
Eric: Hi everyone, I'm Eric.
Risa: And I'm Risa.
Eric: In this lesson, you'll learn how to post and leave comments in Japanese about being in a relationship. 守 (Mamoru) changes his status to "In a relationship", posts an image of it, and leaves this comment:
Risa: 今日で付き合って1ヶ月!ラブラブです。 (Kyō de tsukiatte i-kkagetsu! Raburabu desu.)
Eric: Meaning - "Today is one month since we started dating. We're in love." Listen to a reading of the post and the comments that follow.

POST
Eric: Listen again to 守 (Mamoru)'s post.
Risa: 今日で付き合って1ヶ月!ラブラブです。 (Kyō de tsukiatte i-kkagetsu! Raburabu desu.)
Eric: "Today is 1 month since we started dating. We're in love."
Risa: (SLOW) 今日で付き合って1ヶ月!ラブラブです。 (Kyō de tsukiatte i-kkagetsu! Raburabu desu.) (Regular) 今日で付き合って1ヶ月!ラブラブです。 (Kyō de tsukiatte i-kkagetsu! Raburabu desu.)
Eric: Let's break this down. First is an expression meaning "Today is 1 month since we started dating. "
Risa: 今日で付き合って1ヶ月! (Kyō de tsukiatte i-kkagetsu!)
Eric: In Japan, you can often see couples counting the number of months they're together for, making it an anniversary and posting about it on social media. Listen again- "Today is 1 month since we started dating." is...
Risa: (SLOW) 今日で付き合って1ヶ月! (Kyō de tsukiatte i-kkagetsu!) (REGULAR) 今日で付き合って1ヶ月! (Kyō de tsukiatte i-kkagetsu!)
Eric: Then comes the phrase - "We're in love..."
Risa: ラブラブです。 (Raburabu desu.)
Eric: Although there's an expression meaning "lovey-dovey", it's not very common for Japanese people to show affection such as kissing and hugging in public. If you are visiting your Japanese girlfriend’s or boyfriend’s parents, be careful not to show too much affection in front of them, because older generations especially might get a little confused and shy. Listen again- "We're in love." is...
Risa: (SLOW) ラブラブです。 (Raburabu desu.) (REGULAR) ラブラブです。 (Raburabu desu.)
Eric: All together, "Today is 1 month since we started dating. We're in love."
Risa: 今日で付き合って1ヶ月!ラブラブです。 (Kyō de tsukiatte i-kkagetsu! Raburabu desu.)
