James: This is Must-Know Japanese Slang Words and Phrases, Season 1, Lesson 2. In this lesson, you'll learn expressions for adding emphasis.
James: You will surely hear these expressions when you listen to young people's conversations. They are super popular expressions.
SLANG EXPRESSIONS
James: The expressions you will be learning in this lesson are:
Risa: めっちゃ (metcha )
Risa: ガチ(で) (gachi(de))
Risa: マジ(で) (maji(de))
Risa: 超 (chō)
James: Risa, what's our first expression?
Risa: めっちゃ (metcha )
James: literally meaning "truly." But when it's used as a slang expression, it means "quite, totally."
Risa: [SLOW] めっちゃ [NORMAL] めっちゃ

James: Use this slang expression when you want to emphasize a word or statement. But it's sometimes used meaninglessly. There's another way to say it,
