Hi, everyone! Do you bow in your daily life? In Japan, we bow in many ways for different situations. Today, let's have a look how we bow in our daily lives.

There are three types of bowing.
会釈 (eshaku)
敬礼 (keirei)
最敬礼 (saikeirei)
会釈 (eshaku) is a light bow when you greet or apologize to people.
角度は15度が目安。 (Kakudo wa jū-go-do ga meyasu.)
敬礼 (keirei) in Japanese is known as "salute," but this is also a name for doing a polite bow; this bow is commonly used in the business situation.
角度は30度が目安。 (Kakudo wa san-jū-do ga meyasu.)
最敬礼 (saikeirei) is the most polite and respectful bow to show your deep appreciation or apologize.
角度は45度が目安。 (Kakudo wa yon-jū-go-do ga meyasu.)
When you meet someone for the first time.
リサです。 (Risa desu.)
モト子です。 (Motoko desu.)
よろしくお願いします。 (Yoroshiku o-negai shimasu.)
行きましょうか。 (Ikimashō ka.)
はい。 (Hai.)
Say hi to a neighbor.
こんにちは。 (Konnichiwa.)
こんにちは。いってらっしゃい、気を付けて。 (Konnichiwa. Itterasshai. ki o tsukete.)
ありがとうございます、いってきます。 (Arigatō gozaimasu, ittekimasu.)
When someone keeps the elevator door open for you.
When you accidentally bump into someone.
あ、すいません。 (A, suimasen.)
When you're at the job interview or audition.
リサさん、どうぞ。(Risa-san, dōzo.)
失礼します。 (Shitsurei shimasu.)
When you are at the reception.
本日はお越し頂きありがとうございました。 (Honjitsu wa o-koshi itadaki arigatō gozaimashita.)
お気をつけて。 (O-ki o tsukete.)
When you're apologizing at work.
まだ終わってないよ、これ。これ。 (Mada owatte nai yo, kore. Kore.)
大変申し訳ございません。今日中に終わらせます。 (Taihen mōshiwake gozaimasen. Kyōjū ni owarasemasu.)
When saying thank you to people who came to watch your show.
Thank you so much for coming to my show! Thank you!
土下座 (dogeza)
大変申し訳ございませんでした。 (Taihen mōshiwake gozaimasen deshita.)
When you're in the phone.
はい、もしもし。はい、はい。あ~。 (Hai, moshimoshi. Hai, hai. Ā.)
