Actually, 外す has several meanings and both are correct. Sorry for the inconsistency in the lesson. Please let me show you an example for 外す meaning ”to miss".
的を外す(まとをはずす)= to miss the target/mark

I am a little bit confused. In the video, 外す is explained as "to take off" (e.g. your glasses), in the vocab list it is tranlated as "to miss"? So which one is the correct one?
