INTRODUCTION |
Becky:Hi everyone! Welcome back to JapanesePod101.com. This is Japanese for Everyday Life Lower Intermediate Series, Lesson 12 - Getting Medicine at a Drugstore |
Kaori:こんにちは!古橋香織 です!Hi everyone, Kaori Furuhashi here! |
Becky:I'm Becky. In this lesson, you'll learn a useful skill for when you’re in a drugstore - How to buy drugs at a drugstore. |
Kaori:前回のレッスンでは、調剤薬局("dispensing pharmacy")での会話を勉強しましたが、今回は、ドラッグストアで薬を買う時の会話を勉強しましょう。 |
Becky:That’ll be useful, because you might need to buy common drugs at a drugstore without any prescription from a doctor. |
Kaori:はい。肩こり("stiff shoulder") とか、筋肉痛("muscle ache")とか、頭痛("headache")などの薬は、お医者さんからの処方箋なしに、ドラッグストアで買うことができますからね。 |
Becky:Yeah, I sometimes buy medicine for stiff shoulders at the drugstore. Usually I buy the same medicine, but I wonder if they have a better one. |
Kaori:そういう時は、「肩こりがひどいんですが、何かいい薬はありますか。」と聞いてみましょう。 |
Becky:"I have a bad stiff shoulder. Do you have a good medicine for this?” |
Kaori:はい。「肩こりがひどいんですが、何かいい薬はありますか。」 |
MODEL DIALOG |
Becky:Listen to the dialogue and participate when prompted by speaking aloud in Japanese. Use the patterns of Japanese you studied in the Beginner-level lessons. After you speak, you'll hear a model line of dialogue. Your answer doesn't need to be exactly the same, but do compare your response to the model line. |
In this lesson, you'll play the role of a customer at a drugstore. Your goal is to describe your symptom to get medicine at a drugstore. |

Becky:(The Pharmacist told you that they have skin plasters, ointment, and oral medicine, and asked which one you want. Ask "which do you recommend?” ) |
(pause) |
Person A: お勧めはどれですか。 |
Pharmacist: そうですね。こちらは、新製品でよく効くと思います。 |

Kaori:何か |
Becky:...means “anything” or “any” in a question sentence. You don’t have to include... |
Kaori:何か |
Becky:...and just say... |
Kaori:いい薬はありますか。 |
Becky:But, you can add an implication that you have no idea, and you express your uncertainty if you say... |
Kaori:何かいい薬はありますか。 |
