| In this lesson, you’ll learn conversational phrases to answer the question, "What are you going to talk about?" After watching this video, you’ll be able to introduce a topic you want to talk about. |
| Now, let’s take a look at some conversational phrases! |
| Listen to the dialogue. |
| なにについてはなしますか。 (Nani ni tsuite hanashimasu ka.) |
| わたしのしゅみについてはなします。 (Watashi no shumi ni tsuite hanashimasu.) |
| Once more with the English translation. |
| なにについてはなしますか。 (Nani ni tsuite hanashimasu ka.) |
| “What are you going to talk about?” |
| わたしのしゅみについてはなします。 (Watashi no shumi ni tsuite hanashimasu.) |
| “I'm going to talk about my hobbies.” |
| First of all you'll need to learn how to say “What are you going to talk about?” |
| That's: |
| なにについてはなしますか。 (Nani ni tsuite hanashimasu ka.) |
| Listen to it again: |
| なにについてはなしますか。, なにについてはなしますか。 (Nani ni tsuite hanashimasu ka., Nani ni tsuite hanashimasu ka.) |
| This Japanese sentence literally translates as “About what are you talking?” |
| But it means “What are you going to talk about?”. |
| Now, how do you answer this question? |
| The pattern is: |
| [topic] についてはなします。 ([topic] ni tsuite hanashimasu.) |
| “I'm going to talk about [topic].” |
| This Japanese sentence literally translates as “[topic] intention is.” |
| But it means “I'm going to talk about [topic].”. |
| For example: |
| “I'm going to talk about my hobbies.” |
| わたしのしゅみについてはなします。, わたしのしゅみについてはなします。 (Watashi no shumi ni tsuite hanashimasu., Watashi no shumi ni tsuite hanashimasu.) |
