Hi everyone! I’m Alisha. |
Welcome to Conversational Phrases! |
We’ve found that the best way to learn a language is to speak it from day one! And the best way to start speaking is to learn phrases that you’ll use in real conversations. |
In this lesson, you’ll learn conversational phrases to use when talking with friends. After watching this video, you’ll be able to have a casual conversation with a friend, and to say something is “super.” |
Now, let’s take a look at some conversational phrases! |
Listen to the dialogue. |
ほら、あのくるまみて! (Hora, ano kuruma mite!) |
うわー、とてもかっこいいね! (Uwā, totemo kakkoii ne!) |
Once more with the English translation. |
ほら、あのくるまみて! (Hora, ano kuruma mite!) |
“Hey, look at that car!” |
うわー、とてもかっこいいね! (Uwā, totemo kakkoii ne!) |
“Wow, that's super cool!” |
First of all you'll need to learn how to say “Hey, look at that car!” |
That's: |
ほら、あのくるまみて! (Hora, ano kuruma mite!) |
Listen to it again: |
ほら、あのくるまみて!, ほら、あのくるまみて! (Hora, ano kuruma mite!, Hora, ano kuruma mite!) |
This Japanese sentence literally translates as "Hey, that car look!” But it means “Hey, look at that car!” |
Now, how do you respond to this? |
First of all, you’ll need to learn how to say “wow” . That’s |
うわー, うわー (uwā, uwā) |
Then, you’ll need to learn how to say “That’s super [adjective].” |
The pattern is: |
とても [adjective] ね。 (Totemo [adjective] ne.) |
This Japanese sentence literally translates as "Very [adjective] it is.” But it means “That's super [adjective].” |
For example: |
“Wow, that's super cool!” |
うわー、とてもかっこいいね!, うわー、とてもかっこいいね! (Uwā, totemo kakkoii ne!, Uwā, totemo kakkoii ne!) |
