みなさん、こんにちは！美樹のブログです。 夏休みもそろそろ終わりになりますが、まだ残暑が厳しいですね。 暑い日は食欲も無くなってしまいます。みなさんの国では暑い夏には何を食べますか？ 日本では暑い日には「そうめん」を食べます。小麦、塩、水などをまぜて作った麺をゆでてから水で洗い、醤油ベースの汁につけて食べるのが一般的です。麺と一緒にネギや生姜を入れて食べると、いろいろな味を楽しめます。 そうめんは、冷やして汁につけて食べる他にも、いろいろな食べ方があります。温かいスープに入れて食べたり、パスタの代わりにすることもあります。私の一番好きなそうめんの食べ方は「流しそうめん」です。流しそうめんは名前のとおり、竹で作ったウォータースライダーにそうめんを流します。そして、水と一緒に流れてきたそうめんを箸で上手にキャッチし、汁に入れて食べるのです。流しそうめんをする時はウォータースライダーの上の方で待っていることをオススメします。なぜなら、ウォータースライダーの下の方でそうめんを待っていても、他の人が上手にキャッチできなかったそうめんしか流れてこないからです。 みなさんの国にも、流しそうめんのようなユニークな夏の食べ物はありますか？ それではまた来週！

それから、「厚い」はthickの意味です。

sorry, what I meant by a pre-masu is correctly called the Continuative form (連用形 ren'yōkei) e.g. naru = nari, taberu = tabe, arau = arai and obviously endings are added to this stem e.g. masu to make the polite present/future tense.

I have noticed recently that in lots of Miki's audio blogs, both the -te form of verbs and the pre-masu form of verbs are used to join actions together

e.g. in the following sentence from the above blog:

小麦、塩、水などをまぜて作った麺をゆでてから水で洗い、醤油ベースの汁につけて食べるのが一般的です。

the pre-masu form is used in 水で洗い、and the -te form is used in 汁につけて食べる and in 水などをまぜて作った麺

I'm a bit confused about the difference in usage of the two, could someone help me out please? Also, is the pre-masu stem used in this way only in formal speech, narratives, newspapers etc? Thankyou for any help :grin:

一般に、夏の暑い日は水を含んだ食べ物のほうがいいです。:wink:

それで、わたしは夏になると野菜と果物もっと食べます。野菜の他（例えばトマトやにんじんやなすなど）、メロンやすいかやももなど普通な夏の食べ物です。:razz:

わたしはスープが好きだから、そうめんは本当においしそうです。

特に流しそうめんを食べることは楽しいと思います。

わたしによると、友達などと一緒に食べるのが愉快なことです。例えば、ときどき友達と一緒にパナラという超大きなピザを分けて食べます。:grin:

流しそうめんを食べたことがありませんが、わたしは箸が苦手だから、ウォータースライダーの上の方に待ってもなかなか食べられないと思います！
