| 1. 客 (kyaku) "customer" |
| お客さま (o-kyaku-sama) |
| この店はいつ来ても客がいっぱいです。 (Kono mise wa itsu kite mo kyaku ga ippai desu.) |
| "This shop is always full of customers whenever I visit." |

| 「客」でも大丈夫なんですけども、 (Kyaku demo daijōbu nan desu kedo mo,) |
| これだとちょっと、あまり丁寧な感じではないので、 (kore da to chotto, amari teinei na kanji de wa nai node,) |
| 普段は「お客さま」と言います。 (fudan wa "o-kyaku-sama" to iimasu.) |
| 「客」よりも「お客さま」の方が (Kyaku yori mo "o-kyaku-sama" no hō ga) sounds good. |

| さん (san), さま (sama), whichever is fine. But さま (sama) maybe a bit too polite so you can just say さん (san). |
