Question about 持ってくる

Postby rilynch37 » February 28th, 2013 7:09 pm

Hello everyone, I'm going through Genki and I ran across the sentence: 何か持っていきましょうか。

My question is about the 持っていきましょう. The verb here is 持ってくる correct? Why is the い in there? Does it have something to do with 行く? Thanks!

Yes, the verb's 持って行く→何か持って行きましょうか。

thwiz20115519-san, エリックsan,
kon'nichiwa! :D

How lovely to see the thread of helping each other! :flower: :kokoro:

Like エリックsan has already answered perfectly, the verb used in "should I bring something" can be
different from English when we say it in Japanese. This often happens (行く and 来る not corresponding "go"
and "come"), so if you have further questions about similar expressions, please feel free to ask
