Right.

I took a few semesters of Biblical Hebrew, but unfortunately got behind because of some things and never caught up. :( The letters are pretty simple and compact, so it's a very neat and tidy looking language when you see it written out.

Perhaps Classicallanguagespod101.com is available?

I wouldn't mind studying Latin (again) and Ancient Greek.

One year of Latin in HS wasn't enough.

wow.. you took biblical hebrew! actually that's the reason i wanna learn hebrew... so that i can read the bible's old testament in it's original language.

if i ever accomplish that, i'll probably go on to learn greek to read the bible's new testament in it's original language too! =D

Is Erklaren Peter's company? I thought it was the company that Sakura and Natsuko worked for that sponsored this site.

If I was to learn a third language, it'd be something a lot easier and closer to home, so probably French or Spanish. I can't see myself becoming fluent in Japanese any time soon though, and I'd rather master one language than speak three or four really badly. My aunt is moving to France though, so I won't rule out some survival phrases.

I took one semester of Greek and it was SOOO boring. But I really think that had a lot more to do with the teacher than the subject matter. Greek declensions are evil though. But our textbook produced one of my favorite example sentences ever: "If there's a camel in the house, don't go in!"

I originally took a year of Latin to fulfill my language requirement before I got into Japanese. It wasn't bad. My teachers were cool. The textbook followed the lives of a senator and his family. Their wagon got stuck in a ditch for like 8 chapters. Did you know Latin has a word specifically for "to beat to death"? Actually Japanese does, too: 撲殺[ぼくさつ]

i love latin! i studied Latin for 9 years. did 2 years of classical greek. i actually specialized in diachronic latin linguistics, which was basically the study of how latin changed into the romance languages. it was fascinating! it was so connected to the culture and society and history. i've always been joking around with peter about doing Latin Survival Phrases. lolololololol.

as for the confusion about Erklaren and Innovative Langauge Learning...
Erklaren is a translation and interpretation company in tokyo. Innovative Language Learning is the company that Peter and Eran started so they could make JapanesePod101 possible. Erklaren has a very close working relationship with us, but they are separate entities.

as a joke, i wanted to post a wiki link, but i was shocked to find there actually WAS a wiki link ALREADY!

Hey, Maxiewawa, I am a native Spanish speaker too (from Madrid, if you want to know, although I now live in the Canary Islands). You can ask me anything if you want, and I'll try to help if I know the answer.

About the languages, I'm not sure if I want any more language courses on line, but I have studied a bit of Farsi (Persian) and recently I started Czech (now, that's a tough language - speaking about declensions and quite a lot of different forms for the same word like the names of languages, nationalities, etc.!!!). I also have a basic knowledge of German and I am interested in Icelandic and Finnish.

The obvious result is that I won't master any of them: too much dispersion.

It's also a religion besides a race.
