Learning Kana

Sorry if this has been posted before I couldn't seem to find what I was looking for.

Basically, the pdfs make no sense(?) to me when it comes to the kana or the kanji. I mean what in the world do the symbols stand for even?

Also is there a place that kind of describes how to kana or kanji from the pdf files?

Basically. I don't get it. I can't seem to find a place that will explain how the kana works or what it is.

Anyhelp would be greatful, except for a link that just lists characters with no explanations.

First...learn all the 100 katakana and hirakana. Write it as many time until you can't forget it. Don't worry about the kanji first, this can be done in 1 day. Don't worry about the meaning, it will come as you progress, just memorize it.

Two main problems

1) where do i see a list of all 100
2) I can't memorize something I don't have any way to associate something with. Not anymore.

Do you have access to the learning center on Jpod?

It has detailed pages on kana, with audio and stroke order.

Take your time, write those kana many times until it goes into your head, that is what I did. Don't bother about the kanji at this time.

Slime Forest Adventure is a fun way to learn the kana as well. Basically a graphical adventure game for learning kana and kanji.

I accidently found a site to learn kana and hiragana.

http://realkana.com it is nothing fancy just helps you see the symbols and the association

I find it helps learn it if you copy some basic text and say the sounds out loud as you copy it. Eventually things come to your head and it becomes a lot easier to read it.
