ねこのなかのねこ

Postby metablue » September 17th, 2007 7:09 am

I have to practice producing Japanese (rather than just listening), so here goes. I have trouble with particles so beware.

ねこのほんをかった。(that's about cats, not belonging to a cat)
「日本猫」がいしばんすきです。It's a fairly fat, apprehensive-looking calico with the caption 「お魚好きの元気な猫」。

とにかく、しつもんは、「ねこのなかのねこ」ってなんですか?

It's the description for the Siamese cat. "cat in the middle of cats"? Is that like "cat of all cats"?

Given the context, I guess it's the same thing as 男のなかの男, "a man among men", but "a cat among cats."
