Garbled PDFs!

All the lesson PDFs work fine on my PC.
When I tried to read them on my phone, the English text was garbled, but the Japanese one worked really well.
Does anyone know how to solve this problem?
I'm using an android smartphone with Polaris Office 4.0.
Is my phone out of date or the PDFs are just too old?

The PDFs used to come in two versions, one called "Lesson Notes" and the other called "Lesson Notes Lite". The content is the same but the font and layout are simpler in the "Lite" version. Sometimes the main version just won't display correctly, in which case you can either try using a different PDF reader or else you can use the "Lite" version.

Recently the PDFs were re-done. The new versions display correctly all the time--at least, I haven't come across one yet that doesn't. So your options are (a) try a different PDF reader, (b) try the "Lite" of the Lesson Notes, or (c) download the more recent PDF.

I just downloaded the Adobe Reader and it works like a charm.
JPod101 PDFs just don't like Polaris Office.
