Difficulty with Gengo Talking Dictionary App for ipod

Postby asterry2 » May 30th, 2009 11:07 am

I don't know what I am doing wrong, or if I just don't understand this.

I can't find any way to use the "Chinese input" or whatever it is to draw the kanji that I want to look up.

The help file only says that I can do it, not how to do it. All that shows up when I do a kanji search is the english keyboard. Component search brings up all the different categories of number of stroke kanji.

To be able to draw Chinese characters, first go to your iPhone's settings, then to General, and then to Keyboard. Under International Keyboards, tap on the type of Chinese you want to use (use traditional for Japanese kanji) and turn on Handwriting. Go back into Gengo, and when you start a search tap on the globe icon on the keyboard that's just to the left of the space bar until the handwriting pad comes up.
