Lastest update: Snow Leopard's Preview can view Lesson Note

Postby watermen » October 17th, 2009 10:42 am

I just upgraded my mac to Snow Leopard 10.6.1 and was surprised to know that the latest version of Preview 5.0 (501) can view the normal lesson note without any trouble.

For mac users, if you don't like the ugly "lesson note lite", just upgrade your OS, that will solve the problem. However, since Jpod has not change the font to MSMincho, reading Upper level lesson notes with long paragraph in Arial can be a strain to the eyes.

I hope Jpod can change all the font to MSMincho and TimesNewRoman in the future lesson note.

The size of the lesson note should be reduced too, currently each lesson note is about 400-500KB, this is actually consider huge taking into consideration the material inside the PDF.

After experimenting with Acrobat Pro, if you "resave" it under Print, you can reduce the size of the PDF to around 70-80KB, that is a huge reduction, and the quality is not affected at all. Here is my suggestion to Jpod101, instead of offering the ugly "lesson note lite", why not offer a reduced size version, since the quality is not affected at all? or Maybe you can just reduce the size in both "lesson note" and "lesson note lite".

By the way with the new Preview 5.0, there is no problem copying, highlighting and etc the old PDF files. If that was the reason the old PDF was abandoned, then the upgrade of MacOS seems to solve the problem. May be you all can consider bringing back the old PDF.
