Etiquette lessons, perhaps in JCCs?

Postby Gaikokujin » April 13th, 2007 9:15 pm

Having watched the first series of Jonathan Ross's Japanorama, particularly the "Madam Shirota's Guide to Etiquette" section, I think it would be a great idea if, in JCCs, you spent a bit more time going over 'normal protocol' in Japan.

A lesson I particularly enjoyed was the JCC covering 'warikan', in which you, in addition to explaining clearly the concept of warikan, covered good Japanese table manners, such as never passing food to others chopsticks-to-chopsticks, or not stabbing food with your chopsticks.

More of that would be excellent!

LessonS...trust me. Once this door is opened, the amount of lessons that will have to flood out will be almost overwhelming. The etiquette for entering someone's house could take a 20 minute lesson easily. :D

I think thats right it would take up a lot of time.

Basically a new idea for the site is cultural situations.
